Singing sensation Mark Vincent will return to Griffith Regional Theatre on Saturday, 6 July at 7pm to present A Tribute to Mario Lanza.
Singing from the age of 15, Mark is one of Australia’s most beloved tenors, releasing nine consecutive #1 ARIA Classical Crossover Albums, and earning accolades both nationally and internationally.
Mark’s latest album A Tribute to Mario Lanza contains the ground-breaking ‘virtual duet’ of “Because You’re Mine” with the Hollywood legend himself, which made headlines around the world. The duet received the blessing of Mario Lanza’s daughter, Ellisa Lanza Bregman, who said “I’m pleased to allow my father’s recoded voice to be joined on this historic recording by the exciting young tenor, Mark Vincent.”
Griffith Regional Theatre Manager, Raina Savage said, “Fans of both men can expect a sensational evening with Mark performing a rich repertoire of songs and arias made popular by the great Italian-American tenor and actor Mario Lanza. Mark will also be performing songs from throughout his incredible career including ‘Hallelujah’, ‘You Raise Me Up’, ‘Nessun Dorma’ and his new single ‘This Is Not the End”.
“Griffith fans are in for an additional treat with special guest Tony Sergi joining Mark for this amazing concert,” Ms Savage said.
Mark discovered Mario Lanza through the film, The Great Caruso and it was his lifelong dream to record an album as a tribute to the great artist who inspired so many modern singers including The Three Tenors, Andrea Bocelli, and even Elvis Presley.
Describing that inspiring moment Mark said, “Throughout the movie I was awestruck by the incredible beauty of Lanza’s operatic singing and the urgency and intensity of his voice,”
A Tribute to Mario Lanza debuted at #3 on the ARIA Album Charts, and at #1 on the ARIA Classical Crossover Charts. The album went on to be the highest selling ARIA Classical Crossover album of 2017.
