Liverpool residents are invited to submit photographs of their own family moments to be part of Beyond the Tree an exhibition celebrating Liverpool Genealogy Society’s 30th birthday.

Held at Liverpool Regional Museum from Saturday 6 July, the exhibition will include a growing community tree, where residents can add a piece of their family history.

Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said the exhibition will celebrate Liverpool’s rich history and there was even an opportunity for the community to take part.

“People can bring in photos of their family moments, which will be scanned, printed and mounted and added to the exhibition,” Mayor Waller said.

“The aim of Beyond the Tree is to encourage visitors to learn about others and research their own family history.

“I can’t wait to see what people bring in – it might be a memory from when they first came to Liverpool, a wedding or a holiday – there are no limits on what they can bring in.”

Beyond the Tree is a great way to find out the day-to-day elements of Liverpool’s history – the interesting lives of our forbearers.

“It’s also a chance to find out about researching your own family history from members of Liverpool Genealogy Society,” Mayor Waller said.

Liverpool Genealogy Society is a recognised leading genealogy service provider in South West Sydney.

Volunteers are available Tuesdays to Saturdays to assist LGS members and visitors with their research and family enquiries.

The exhibition launches on Saturday 6 July, from 11am to 1pm, and the community is invited to attend.

“We have a fantastic program of free events associated with this exhibition and we invite the community to get involved,” Mayor Waller said.
