Despite the hot and windy conditions at the Beyond the Valley music festival, Victoria Police was pleased with the behaviour of festival-goers.
Senior Sergeant Glenn Parke said uniform police officers, the Public Order Response Team, the Highway Patrol and the Dog Squad were successfully employed at the four-day festival, which finished yesterday.
“Overall Victoria Police was happy with the conduct of the majority of festival-goers,” Senior Sergeant Parke said.
“Sadly, however, a small number of people are still not getting the message about drugs and we made 45 drug-related arrests across the four days.
“It was also disappointing to see a number of people detected with drug and drink-driving related offences.
“Road safety has been a significant issue over the past year and it’s a concern that people still chose to drive away from the festival under the influence of drugs or alcohol.”
Victoria Police results during the Beyond the Valley festival included:
• people arrested for drug related offences = 45
• people detected for drink driving offences = 15
• people detected for drug driving offences = 24
• no of reports of theft = 3
• no of preliminary breath tests conducted by Victoria Police = 1910
Drugs seized during the festival included: cocaine, Ketamine, MDMA, LSD and cannabis.
