Big projects delivered, more to come

It’s been a big year of delivering major open space projects for our City to make it an even greater place to live. Families now have even more opportunities to get out, be active and have fun together.

In the past few months we have opened more super playground parks including Bareena at Canley Vale, Fairfield Heights playground and Carrawood playground at Carramar.

These super parks each offer something different for all ages including features such as flying foxes, mini soccer fields, learn to ride circuit tracks, climbs and slides and water play areas.

We also upgraded The Crescent International Monument space in Fairfield. This space recognises our heritage as well as provides an urban oasis from shopping and working to sit and relax, have a peaceful lunch or meet friends.

Planning is underway for more city-shaping projects including an indoor Multicultural and Sporting Centre at Fairfield Showground, as well as extensive upgrades to Endeavour Sports Park in Fairfield West; Avenel Park in Canley Vale and Brenan Park in Smithfield. These projects will see residents benefit from new recreation and fitness facilities for all ages, building a healthier and more engaged local community.

Our investment in improving open spaces underlines just how important these spaces are for the community. New and revitalised district parks, local parks, playgrounds and dog parks are all part of our vision to deliver a quality open space network accessible by everyone, and to maintain a healthy biodiversity across our urban landscape.
