Bayside Council elected former long-term Mayor Councillor Bill Saravinovski as the new Mayor until the local government elections on Saturday 4 December.
Councillor Bill Saravinovski was the only nomination and was elected unopposed.
Councillor Michael Nagi was also elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.
“It is an honour, and privilege, to once again serve as the Mayor of Bayside Council and I would like to thank my fellow Councillors for the support I have received,” Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.
“I would also like to thank the outgoing Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Councillor Joe Awada and Councillor James Macdonald, for the work they did over the last two years, during what can only be described as very difficult and challenging time,” Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.
“They made a strong team and together they supported, and worked with our community as we navigated a global pandemic and a series of unprecedented lockdowns,” Mayor Saravinovski said.
Mayor Saravinovski and Deputy Mayor Nagi will both serve in their respective roles until Local Government elections on Saturday 4 December 2021.
This mayoral election was necessary under the Local Government Act that required Council to elect a Mayor in September 2021 which is the end of the current two-year mayoral term.
