With great regret, Blacktown City Council has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2022 Blacktown City Medieval Fayre.
Impact of wet weather
This decision has been taken after recent heavy rainfall left the grounds of Nurragingy Reserve unsafe for heavy vehicle access, patron accessibility, and animal welfare.
The wet weather across Sydney and much of eastern NSW in March and April 2022 caused the grounds at Nurragingy Reserve to be badly water-logged.
The cooler weather has meant the grounds have been slow to dry, and recent heavy rainfall has caused severe waterlogging to return.
The Medieval Fayre was scheduled to be held on Saturday 3 and Sunday, 4 September, having been postponed from May, when wet grounds made the venue unsafe.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting more rain in August, ensuring that conditions will not improve.
Considering this situation, Council prefers to make this decision now to avoid disappointment closer to the date.

Council staff have assessed the venue daily, and the accompanying photographs taken on 3 August show the state of the grounds, even after 10 days without rain.
