Kiama Council has deferred debating a notice of motion regarding the open letter about Blue Haven Bonaira until its next scheduled ordinary meeting, Tuesday 13 February 2024.
Council originally received the notice of motion from Cr Kathy Rice for debate at its meeting tomorrow (Thursday 14 December).
Subsequently, as per Council’s Code of Meeting Practice, CEO Jane Stroud advised councillors the notice of motion did not comply with sections 3.13, 3.14 and 10.10 of the Code of Meeting Practice.
Ms Stroud also advised that the notice of motion had serious legal, strategic, policy and financial risks, all of which require a report and a deferral, in line with the clauses above.
This advice has been confirmed by the Office of Local Government, which is in agreement that the matter be deferred to the February meeting.
Accordingly, the CEO has reissued the agenda and papers for tomorrow’s meeting.
Members of the public wishing to speak to the notice of motion at Public Forum before the meeting have been advised of the deferral to February.
Public Forum on the notice of motion will now occur before the February meeting.
The revised agenda and business papers are now available from Council’s website:
