BMX riders of all ages and abilities can once again hit the track with the Tamworth BMX facility receiving final environmental approval, allowing public access.
Remediation and upgrade works were completed in March after asbestos containing material was discovered at the track in 2020 in a routine inspection, and had been pending this final approval.
The new Marius Street track now has an all-weather, high-performance competition surface which will provide invaluable opportunities to local riders. A new pump track has also been constructed next to the existing BMX track, providing a secondary practice and training space for BMX riders of all skills levels.
While the facility is now open to the public, Tamworth Regional Council would like to remind the community that no motorbikes, scooters, rollerblades, remote control cars or skateboards are to be used on the track as this will damage the surface.
Thank you to the Tamworth BMX community for your patience while works have been taking place.
