The Mine Land Rehabilitation Authority is an independent statutory body working with community, industry and government to oversee the rehabilitation of Victoria’s Declared Mines. Currently Victoria has three Declared Mines – Hazelwood, Loy Yang and Yallourn.
The board is responsible for the management and oversight of the affairs of the Authority including providing advice to the Minister for Energy and Resources.
Expertise relating to the rehabilitation of mines is required for the Chairperson and desirable for the deputy chairperson. This may be direct or indirect expertise related to any of the broad range of technical, environmental, financial, legal or social issues associated with mine rehabilitation.
