The Tasmanian Liberal Government welcomes Bonza Airlines’ announcement that it will begin a new route between Launceston and the Sunshine Coast from March 29.
This new service will be the first ever direct connection between the two cities.
The new route will operate twice weekly on Monday and Friday with flights from just $89 per person, one way.
Premier and Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, Jeremy Rockliff, said this additional service from Bonza will support Tasmania’s tourism and business operators all year round.
“Bonza’s new route to and from Launceston is a sign that the Tasmanian Liberal Government’s long-term plan to sustainably grow visitation and keep our economy strong is working.”
The Sunshine Coast route comes just four months after Bonza’s inaugural flight from Gold Coast to Launceston touched down.
Premier Rockliff said these additional services will bring more visitors into the North who will support Tasmanian eateries, tourism operators, accommodation venues and much more.
“The Tasmanian Government is doing what matters by sustainably growing our visitor economy, supporting businesses and local jobs,” Premier Rockliff said.
“We will continue to build capacity and frequency to and from Tasmania, providing more travel choices for Tasmanian communities and visitors, and creating a competitive environment for flight prices.”
