Have you heard? Wollongong City Libraries have pulled the Christmas books off their shelves, created a cheerful playlist and have gathered colourful holiday crafts – all in preparation for their first preschool post lockdown event, Storytime in the Library!
Wollongong City Libraries are excited to host a special summer and Christmas themed Storytime in the Library at three locations in December. To help families see out the final weeks of the year, our librarians will be reading a few holiday classics as well as helping our young ones get creative with some crafty activities.
“Our free events have proved popular among our families, offering a safe space to socialise, meet new people, and enjoy all our library resources,” Wollongong City Council’s Director Community Services Kerry Hunt said.
“We’re pleased that we can safely run some events again, especially in a season where our community are looking to reconnect with one another. So, we hope our members can rediscover the joy in spending time together to read, laugh, and play at our libraries.”
There will be two different themed Storytime events. Summer holiday Storytime will be held at Dapto library, whereas Christmas Storytime will be held at our Wollongong and Corrimal libraries. To attend any of these events, bookings are essential via .
“There will be a special Christmas themed Storytime where we’ll be taking it outdoors at Darcy Wentworth Park. We hope to see the clear skies summer usually offers but if the weather does not look inviting, we will be shifting it to Warrawong library. We’ll be sure to post any updates to the libraries Facebook page,” Ms Hunt said.
“We can’t wait to see you all back in our libraries, whatever the reason may be. But we ask that you please follow the Public Health Orders to help keep our community safe.”
