- Government invests $100,000 into local health and medical life sciences companies
- Grants of up to $5,000 per business are available
- WA delegation heads off to represent WA at AusBiotech 2023 in Brisbane
The Cook Government has invested $100,000 towards the second round of the Market Access Grant Scheme (MAGS) to support local health and medical life sciences companies to travel to major industry conferences.
The announcement comes as Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson leads a delegation of nine local companies to attend the AusBiotech 2023 in Brisbane to showcase WA’s burgeoning health and medical life sciences industry.
Minister Dawson said the MAGS would provide funding up to $5,000 (on a co-contribution basis) to eligible local health and life sciences companies to support their travel arrangements to major industry conferences and business events next year.
The inaugural round of MAGS was launched in March and awarded funding to 20 local life sciences companies to engage with international investors, partners and potential customers at industry forums held interstate and overseas.
The grants assist eligible companies to advance their businesses and products, help facilitate the formation of new business relationships, and showcase local industry talent through attendance at interstate and international conferences and events.
The AusBiotech conference, which starts today in Brisbane, is a forum for Australian and international industry leaders to discuss the latest research, technologies, challenges and market access strategies across biotech, medtech and agri-tech.
The WA delegation to AusBiotech builds on momentum from the successful AusBiotech 2022 Conference held in Perth last year. A WA delegation participated in key global biomedical conferences this year including BIO in Boston, the MedTech Conference in Anaheim, and AusMedtech in Adelaide.
The second round of the MAGS will open at 9am (AWST) on Tuesday, 31 October and will remain open until the available funds are expended.
