Boosting Support For Multicultural Organisations

VIC Premier

The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support multicultural community organisations to strengthen their services and aid Victoria’s social and economic recovery.

Minister for Multicultural Affairs Ros Spence today announced $2.4 million is available through the fifth round of grants from the Priority Response to Multicultural Communities program to support community organisations.

Multicultural and multifaith organisations can apply for grants of between $5,000 and $75,000. Grants will support professional development programs, provide job specific training and develop the skills of employees to ensure they are well equipped to adapt to changing environments throughout the pandemic.

The Priority Response to Multicultural Communities program was established in August 2020 in response to the increasing need for community-led support beyond the immediate emergency response to the pandemic, including support for organisational capacity building within multicultural communities.

The Labor Government has empowered more than 360 multicultural and faith grassroot organisations with more than $26.45 million to help Victoria’s culturally and linguistically diverse communities navigate the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

Applications from community organisations based in regional and rural areas, as well as new and emerging community organisations, will be prioritised.

Previous PRMC program grants have funded organisations such as Cultura. Cultura provides a support network and a unified voice for multicultural communities in Greater Geelong, offering services in settlement, youth and community programs, arts programs and cultural events, community services and aged care.

Applications open today and close on 16 August 2022.
