We are proud to announce Josh from Ashburton has recently been named as Boroondara’s winner in the ABC’s Takeover Melbourne competition.
Josh’s winning story shared his experience of becoming a Rubik’s cube champion and how his friends and family encouraged him to get out of his comfort zone and try new things.
“At first, I was incredibly anxious to compete and felt I wasn’t good enough. But after my first competition, I solved my Rubik’s cube in 15 seconds and broke my personal best time.”
“I have now competed in over five competitions. Rubik’s cubing has helped me build my confidence, and without cubing I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
Earlier this year, the ABC invited young Melbournians aged 12 to 18 years to share their experiences, challenges and passions by entering the Takeover Melbourne competition.
Over 1,000 young people participated in Takeover through storytelling and resilience workshops in the community.
The 29 winners from each of the local government areas of Greater Melbourne will work with ABC producers to have their story featured on ABC TV, radio or online.

Takeover Melbourne is one of the many events Boroondara Youth facilitate to provide opportunities which encourage and support the aspirations and talents of young people in our community.
