A boy has faced court after being charged following investigations into property-related offences in the state’s central west.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime, committed predominately by young offenders.
About 11.40am on Thursday (14 November 2024), officers attached Chifley Police District commenced an investigation after three people allegedly entered a home on Cypress Street, Orange, and filmed themselves rummaging through property.
About 12.30pm on Friday 15 November 2024, police were called to a home on Lawson Crescent, Orange, after reports three people allegedly entered the backyard and smashed a window, before climbing into the property.
About 1.30pm police attached to the Central West Police District Proactive Crime Team arrested a 12-year-old child and two teenage boys aged – 13 – on Lawson Crescent, Orange.
They were taken to Orange Police Station, and the 12-year-old boy was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company steal and aggravated break and enter dwelling in company damage property.
He was refused bail to appear before a Childrens Court on Saturday 16 November 2024, where he was given conditional bail to appear before a Childrens Court on Thursday 19 December 2024.
The two 13-year-old boys will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
