BOYCE BLASTS LABOR’S TAXPAYER FUNDED ADVERTISING SLUSH FUND

Colin Boyce MP

Earlier this year, the Labor Government provisioned $10 million to the Net Zero Economy Agency, soon to be the Net Zero Economy Authority, to run an educational and promotional advertising campaign to promote their net zero policies.

If this government’s use of a $10 million slush fund to promote its own job destroying net zero policies is not shameful enough, Senate Estimates revealed that the Net Zero Economy Agency has already allocated over $6.7 million to coordinate taxpayer funded net zero campaigns in Gladstone and the Hunter Valley.

The Federal Member for Flynn, Colin Boyce blasted the disgraceful misuse of taxpayer funds and called on the Labor Government to explain themselves.

“It’s quite convenient the Labor Government is not targeting its job destroying net zero slush fund nationwide, rather it is only targeting my seat of Flynn and the seat of Hunter in NSW, both of which have coal-fired power stations,” Mr Boyce said.

“This shameful misuse of taxpayer funds to run Labor’s job destroying net zero advertising campaign illustrates that this government does not even care about their own energy policies, they only care about retaining and winning seats.

“Out of the $10 million provisioned, $1.6 million of funding from the slush fund has been allocated to community engagement, public relations, partnerships and other activities. Have the communities that are having their livelihoods torn apart due to the Labor Government’s net zero policies been engaged? I suspect not.

“I look forward to taking on the Labor party at the next federal election and continue my fight to protect the jobs of Central Queenslanders as well as their future.

“I will always stand up for the hardworking men and women in Central Queensland and will always vehemently oppose Labor’s job destroying net zero policies.

“You simply cannot trust Labor with your job.”
