Break and enter charges at Gold Coast, QLD

Detectives have charged five men after investigations into the alleged burglaries and thefts from Gold Coast businesses over the last two days which saw damage to property worth tens of thousands of dollars.

Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch with the assistance of detectives from Ipswich executed a search warrant at Redbank Plains following a series of offences where it will be alleged the men forced access to coin-operated washing machines at Gold Coast laundromats.

It will be further alleged that a search of a motor vehicle linked the offences and police located coin boxes from the machines, dangerous drugs (methamphetamines (ICE), cannabis) drug utensils and tokens from other coins operated businesses.

As a result, a 26-year-old Yatala man has been charged with attempted enter dwelling with intent, possession of house breaking implements, possession tainted property, possession of drug utensils and possession of dangerous drugs.

He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on May 3, 2019.

A 34-year-old man also from Yatala has been charged with attempted enter dwelling with intent, possession of house breaking implements and possession tainted property to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.

Three Redbank Plains men, 22, 23 and 19, have also been charged with enter premises with intent and possession of a dangerous drug. All three men are expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.

Detective Inspector Brendan Smith from Gold Coast CIB said the arrests demonstrate the continued commitment to apprehend property offenders regardless of their location.
