Council Administrator Viv May will again reconnect with our village communities through a series of Village Visits planned from October through to December 2023. Bring your ideas to the table for what you want to see happen in your village and hear some of the great outcomes we’ve already achieved in partnership with village communities.
“Residents are eyes and ears on local issues for me and I welcome their suggestions as we work together to shape the future of our Shire,” the Administrator says. “It was in response to village communities telling me they felt unheard by the previous Council, at the time of my initial Visit Visits, that we appointed a Place Liaison Officer dedicated to listening to and addressing their concerns.”
As part of our on-going commitment to connecting with our villages, and working together to revitalise our Shire, Viv May will once again take part in Community Association Meetings across Wingecarribee.
“I’m very much looking forward to continuing our collaboration with village communities on the projects that matter most to them,” Mr May says. “As a result of reconnecting with the villages through these regular visits, we’ve been able to make a difference by partnering on projects that matter most to community members.”
Among recent collaborations was helping to find the funds needed to deliver a new hall for Penrose, supporting Wingello to rebuild after bushfires impacted visitation, and bringing defibrillators to village community halls/centres?. Giving the Tulip Time bulbs away to community members was another great suggestion from a community member.
“I’d like to encourage all community members to come along to these Village Visits and share your ideas and concerns with me,” Viv says.
