A Brisbane man, 62, has been sentenced to 4 years and 6 months imprisonment for accessing, transmitting and possessing child abuse material by the Brisbane District Court.
The man pleaded guilty to 12 offences in March following a Brisbane Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team investigation into an online user uploading child abuse material to social media platforms.
AFP Investigators from the Queensland Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team, comprising members from the AFP and Queensland Police, executed a search warrant at the man’s home in West End before seizing several electronic items, including two phones, a tablet and laptop.
The man was arrested and charged with;
- Six counts of use carriage service to access child abuse material, contrary to section 474.22(1)(a)(i) of the Criminal Code 1995 (Cth)
- Three counts of use carriage service to transmit child abuse material, contrary to section 474.22(1)(a)(iii) of the Criminal Code 1995 (Cth)
- Make child exploitation material, contrary to section 228B of the Criminal Code 1899 (Qld)
- Two counts of possess child abuse material obtained or accessed through a carriage service, contrary to section 474.22A of the Criminal Code 1995 (Cth)
The man was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months imprisonment with a non-parole period of 15 months.
