Members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Special Forces Regiment attended a human performance optimisation (HPO) exponents course at Holsworthy Barracks in Sydney in late June.
Developed and delivered by the Australian Defence Force School of Special Operations in collaboration with industry experts, the course is designed to equip personnel with knowledge across the three pillars of human performance – mind, body and team.
It provides skills, knowledge and awareness in the fundamentals of human performance, such as sleep management, nutrition, strength and conditioning, team dynamics, communication and culture.
The course was an evidenced-based program, according to Special Operations Command (SOCOMD) human performance manager, Warrant Officer Class 1 M.
“It aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge required to lead HPO initiatives,” Warrant Officer Class 1 M said.
He said the Brunei contingent fully embraced the course and the learning opportunity.
“It was great to have the [Brunei special forces] members in attendance; they engaged enthusiastically and I am confident that they can positively shape their own human performance program in Brunei,” WO1 M said.
Commanding Officer 1st Commando Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel M, said SOCOMD had a long and storied bilateral relationship with the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Special Forces Regiment.
“Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the defence relationship between Australia and Brunei – Special Operations Command’s longest enduring international engagement,” he said.
“The bilateral relationship exposes both militaries to different training environments, which now includes the knowledge and skills of the HPO course.”
