Bruxner Bridge Replacement Commences

Dungog Shire Council is set to start work this month on replacing Bruxner Bridge, under a $16.44M NSW Government Fixing Country Bridges grant council received earlier this year to replace 23 of its 24 timber bridges across the shire, with council securing just over $1.4M to replace the ageing structure.

During construction, Summer Hill Road will be closed between the Lennoxton Road and Fishers Hill Road intersections respectively, with no public access beyond this point on Summer Hill Road for the duration of these works.

There will be a detour via Summer Hill Road, Lennoxton Road and Gresford Road, which is the same detour that is used during episodes of flooding.

The Bruxner Bridge replacement is currently scheduled to commence on 8 November 2021 and is expected to be completed in February 2022.

Signage will be in place to advise of the changed traffic conditions for the duration of these works. Council asks all road users to take extra care when traveling through this area and thanks all residents for their patience and cooperation while these critical infrastructure works are completed.

Fixing Country Bridges is a $500 million NSW Government program helping local councils to replace hundreds of timber bridges in poor condition and better connect regional and rural communities across the state.
