Budget 2023 – Investing in our Future, Delivering for all Territorians – Record Investment into Infrastructure

NT Government

Infrastructure is a sector where the Territory Labor Government continues to deliver year in, year out.

Budget 2023 will see the most significant infrastructure program and investment in the Territory’s history at $4.07 billion. The total infrastructure payments of $2.11 billion in Budget 2023-24 also represent a record level of infrastructure expenditure.

This includes $108 million for the Tiger Brennan overpass, which is well underway by local contractor Siztler – and is expected to employ 150 local workers.

The Tiger Brennan and Berrimah overpass project will improve road safety at the Territory’s busiest intersection, with over 20,000 vehicles passing through this intersection daily.

This project will be completed in late 2024.

Since being elected in 2016, the Territory Labor Government has delivered $8.02 billion in infrastructure across the Territory – a yearly average of $1.37 billion.

Each year on average 99 per cent of Territory Infrastructure contracts are awarded to Territory businesses, this means more local jobs, and a steady pipeline of work for the sector.

Each and every region from the Territory will benefit from our Government’s investment into infrastructure. Our civil contractors will be kept busy with a pipeline of work, delivering projects from the Tiwi Islands to Central Australia and everywhere in between.

Quote attributed to the Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics, Eva Lawler:

“Strategic infrastructure is the key to unlocking the Territory’s full potential.

“Budget 2023 showcases our 2023-24 road and transport infrastructure program, which runs in partnership with the Australian Government. It will see an investment of $2.24 billion for roads, aerodromes, jetties and barge landings.

“This record spend will enable major industry, economic and jobs growth right across the Territory which will benefit everyone.”
