The Territory Labor Government today launched its blueprintfor a quality health system delivered by a highly trained, capable and engagedworkforce.
The sets out guiding principles for a sustainable and highly capable workforce withan emphasis on partnerships across the health sector and with educationproviders.
The strategy contains four key objectives:
Attractingand retaining people with the right skills and capabilities, who demonstrate theNT Governments values and meet the needs of the community;
Educating,training and developing people to reach their best potential
Planningfor the future workforce and working collaboratively with each other
Ensuringthe workforce reflects our diverse community, people feel engaged with theirwork and valued for their contribution.
The strategysupports existing initiatives such as Growour Own which includes the Flinders NT Medical Program where Territorianscan undertake a complete training program to become a medical practitioner withouthaving to leave the Territory.

Mechanisms for attracting and optimising the strengths andskills of our health professionals means well be better positioned to meet thecurrent and emerging health needs of Territorians.
