- Annual Department of Finance Supplier Performance Awards celebrate outstanding local building suppliers and contractors
- Businesses have delivered WA Government non-residential building projects with exceptional service and value recognised
- Awards presented in six categories, including Best Project, Best Regional Contractor and Best Aboriginal Contractor
Eight Western Australian building suppliers and contractors have been recognised as part of the Department of Finance’s 2023 Supplier Awards, as outstanding contractors who have delivered non-residential project works.
Representatives from the successful businesses gathered yesterday at Djookanup, the Department of Finance’s office in Osborne Park where they were presented with their awards by Finance Minister Sue Ellery.
These businesses and individuals have provided exceptional services and value on projects that make a significant difference to the Western Australian community.
Winners this year have successfully delivered projects throughout the State including schools, hospitals, emergency services buildings and laboratories, while managing ongoing challenges in the building and construction industry.
These awards provide the Department of Finance with an opportunity to acknowledge the exemplary performance and commitment of the recipients to providing high quality outcomes, despite current construction challenges.
This year’s Best Contractor was awarded to Perkins Builders, a standout winner due to their proactive approach to problem solving and impressive work on the Australind Senior High School forward works, the Bunbury Senior High School cafeteria and refurbishment and the Collie Health Service Stage 2 project.
Other winners for 2023 included:
- Best Regional Contractor: Colab Construction
- Best Aboriginal Contractor: Kullarri Building
- Best Consultant: TRCB
- Best Cost Manager: Rawlinsons (WA)
- Best Project: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Upgrades to Catheter Laboratories and Interventional Radiology Rooms
- Client: North Metropolitan Health Service
- Contractor: Devlyn Construction
- Consultant: Hames Sharley (WA)
- Cost Manager: Ralph Beattie Bosworth
- Project Manager: Sarah Zimmerman
- Project Director: Warren Vanalopulos
To be eligible for an award, pre-qualified contractors and consultants are assessed against performance reports and must not have received any demerits under the Department’s Supplier Demerit Scheme or infractions from any other recognised regulatory or statutory in the past two years.
As stated by Finance Minister Sue Ellery:
“On behalf of the Cook Government, I congratulate all the 2023 Supplier Performance Awards winners for their exceptional service to the WA Government and ultimately to the WA community.
“Our Government is leading one of the most ambitious infrastructure development programs in the nation and despite the challenges faced in the current market, these recognised WA builders and contractors continue to deliver world-class outcomes for our State.
“Projects delivered by these award winners include new primary and secondary schools, upgrades to TAFE facilities plus upgrades to health facilities and emergency services facilities.
“These projects were part of our Government’s $524 million worth of non-residential infrastructure projects delivered by Finance across the State in 2022-23.”
