Building Vibrant Communities: Upgrades at Freds Pass Reserve

The Territory Labor Government has invested $3 million inmajor upgrades at the Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve.

The popular rural venue now features improved roads,fencing, reticulation, parking and drainage as well as electrical upgrades.

A new amenities block will service the Litchfield BearsFootball Club, market and paintball venues while improved lighting at themarket shed will allow sports games to be held at night.

Other works include improved lighting at the main oval;connection of lighting towers to the mains power at the Litchfield Bears Ovaland the development of an irrigation master plan.

The Territory Government worked in partnership with theLitchfield Council to ensure the funding supported community priorities and wasin line with the Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve Boards Master Plan.

A further $2 million has been invested by the TerritoryGovernment to improve the reserve with works to include the construction of anew maintenance shed and cricket change rooms, certification of variousbuildings, additions to the equestrian facilities and upgrading of roads andcar parks.

As noted by Minister for Tourism, Sport andCulture, Lauren Moss:

The Territory Labor Government continues to invest in theTerritorys community assets because we know they build vibrant communities,boost the economy and create local jobs.

Freds Pass is the sporting and recreational hub of therural area which hosts popular events such as community shows, concerts andlocal sport.

By upgrading the facilities, we are allowing user groupsand the wider community to continue to enjoy quality sport and recreationexperiences.

As noted by Assistant Sports Minister, TonySievers:

The Freds Pass Sport and Recreation Reserve is a popularand well used venue and these upgrades will enhance the aesthetics andfunctionality of the area.

The Territory Labor Government has worked closely with theLitchfield Council to ensure our funding supports their key priorities and isaligned with the master plan.
