Bullara accommodation development boosts Exmouth tourism

  • Bullara Station Stay opens new facilities with $203,000 Regional Economic Development (RED) Grant
  • 12 new jobs created for the local community
  • Accommodation capacity increased in the lead up to the 2023 Ningaloo Eclipse
  • Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan has officially opened the ‘Woolshed’ tourist hub at Bullara Station, south of Exmouth.

The development was supported by the McGowan Government, through the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants program.

Bullara Station has built a reputation for providing an authentic station stay experience for the past 12 years.

The program has enabled it to expand its capacity to accommodate guests and support strong regional tourism growth – with the addition of two new high-end glamping tents and 60 new affordable camping and caravan sites.

The development also includes a new ablutions block and hot water system, shearing shed hub, upgraded power systems, and a commercial kitchen and café.

The new facilities have also increased Bullara’s capacity to host events, and showcase their unique outback experience – recently hosting a sold-out event at the 2022 Gascoyne Food Festival on July 30.

The completion of this tourist hub has seen 12 new jobs created, bringing the total peak season staff to 32.

The RED Grants program has committed $45.8 million over eight years towards projects which aim to enhance economic development and job creation in regional Western Australia.

As stated by Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“It is fantastic to be able to support Bullara Station in taking their pastoral tourism to the next level.

“Increasing Bullara’s capacity and variety of accommodation options allows a greater number of visitors to stay longer, and spend more in the local economy while they experience this magnificent region.

“This superb tourism opportunity will contribute to the big push in the lead up to the Ningaloo Total Solar Eclipse in April 2023.”

Comments from Tourism Minister Roger Cook:

“This is another great development for our tourism industry.

“Expanding the range and depth of quality regional tourism accommodation is an important part of our Wander Out Yonder strategy.”
