The Burns Point Ferry will resume operations at 6pm on Friday, 22 November 2024, following its annual maintenance period.
Thanks to a smooth and efficient maintenance process, the ferry is returning to service two days earlier than planned.
“The ferry is a key Council asset that connects residents and visitors between South Ballina and West Ballina year-round. Our maintenance program is essential to ensure the ferry operates safely and reliably,” said Paul Crozier, Ballina Shire Council’s Manager Engineering Works.
“This year’s work focused on structural, mechanical, and electrical maintenance, along with minor safety upgrades. By completing the work on-site in West Ballina, rather than transporting the ferry to the slipway in Woodburn, we were able to work more efficiently, reduce costs, and minimise the downtime for the ferry,” Mr. Crozier explained.
Council thanks the public for their patience and understanding during this annual maintenance period.
The ferry service operates daily between 5.30am and 12.30am except on Christmas Day.
A reminder that the ferry will be closed for its routine monthly maintenance on Tuesday 10 December 2024.
