Business Confidence Bounces Back In Tasmania

Michael Ferguson, Treasurer

The May 2024 NAB monthly business survey released today shows that Tasmanian businesses have welcomed the return of the Tasmanian Liberal Government for a record fourth consecutive term.

Tasmania has seen the strongest growth in business confidence and conditions of all states over the last 3 months improving by 12 basis points, in trend terms, compared to a national average of -1, over the same period.

Tasmania’s business conditions continue to be the strongest in the country and more than double that of Western Australia, which was ranked second in trend terms. Tasmania’s business confidence is also now equal third strongest in the country and above the national average.

Treasurer Michael Ferguson welcomed the latest report saying the Tasmanian economy will always be better served under a Liberal Government.

“This report shows that the business community welcomes the return of the Tasmanian Liberal Government after the recent State election,” Mr Ferguson said.

“Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future shows that the Government is focused on what matters – jobs, investment and economic growth – and our economic plan has been working for a long time and continues to work.

“We have a plan for the economy and the statistics clearly show that our plan is working and the business community has the confidence to invest, hire and grow.”
