Buskers get free pass for summer in Southern Grampians Shire

Southern Grampians Shire buskers will have their permit fees waived as plan to reinvigorate our CBD and townships. From this week until the end of summer, buskers will be able to perform, play or sing to their hearts content, provided they apply for a permit.

Southern Grampians Shire Council Mayor Bruach Colliton said Council was committed to supporting the community, local businesses and increasing expenditure and visitation to our CBD.

“This past two years have been incredibly tough for our businesses and we are doing everything we can to deliver a much-needed boost by drawing more people into the city, and encouraging them to stay longer,” Cr Colliton said.

“Across the summer months, we are excited to be waiving permit fees for buskers in our town centres. We’re issuing the call out to all street performers, singers, musicians and choirs to help create some excitement and vibrancy and bring our streets back to life with music and entertainment.

“If you’ve ever thought about having a go at performing live – this is your opportunity!”

“This initiative comes in addition to the recently launched ‘Ignite the Spirit of Christmas’ campaign, which sees Christmas decorations going up around the region and the light and sound show of the Hamilton Christmas tree and the new Santa Sleigh running every night throughout December, Cr Colliton said.

“It’s going to be wonderful to see our streets buzzing again, with so much happening to bring some joy to the community and importantly to help bring our communities together,” Cr Colliton said.

Permits are required for all performers and gain be obtained online at
