Cricket Australia is pleased to announce a new product partnership with the str8bat cricket bat sensor.
str8bat is a new device that allows everyone from juniors learning the game to elite players honing their techniques to analyse their batting in real-time.
str8bat is easy to use with no video required. You simply apply the lightweight stick-on sensor to the back of your bat before practice or play and then, when you’re finished, instantly download your personalized batting data on the str8bat’s mobile App.
The str8bat sensor provides an illustrated 360-degree view of every shot played as well as analysis of bat swing speed, impact speed, timing, sweet spot, back-lift angle and much more.
As the game evolves so too do batting techniques. str8bat doesn’t tell you how to bat. It provides the feedback that helps you decide what works best for you!
The Indian Premier League’s Rajasthan Royals are among str8bats partners.
Why did Cricket Australia partner with str8bat?
We believe str8bat is a great way for every cricketer and coach to gain insights that will help improve their batting and enjoy their cricket even more.
As importantly, in a data-savvy age, str8bat is a fun and intuitive way to learn in both an individual and team environment.
The str8bat App allows you to share your game or session data with friends, teammates or the wider cricket community and compare who has the best timing or is hitting it out of the middle most often.
Greg Chappell, Australian cricket great and str8bat investor/advisor said:
“I believe technology has a huge role to play in taking the game to greater heights. str8bat is one such technology that can be available to everybody who wants to gain that minute advantage that is required to take their game to the next level.
“Whilst one can argue with the video, it’s very hard to argue with data. The str8bat technology shows each player and each coach, the most efficient way to apply their own method.
“I’m really pleased to have formed an association with str8bat as an advisor and investor. I must congratulate Cricket Australia and str8bat for having such a strategic tie up which really accelerates the game development at participation level and high-performance level alike.”
Gagan Daga, str8bat inventor and chief executive officer said:
“We thought ‘Let’s change the game and make sports equipment talk in a language that both players and coaches can understand’. We were ‘stupid’ enough to think we could change the game, and ‘brave’ enough to pursue this idea. This gave birth to str8bat.
“Right from the inception, we have worked closely with players and coaches across the globe to ensure we built a product which adds value to the players’ quest to play better, which is completely non-intrusive and gives instant visual, and actionable insights to players and coaches.
“str8bat sensor is a lightweight sensor which sits behind the bat in the most non-intrusive manner, takes the shape of the bat and gives very accurate data insights.
“There is no one batting technique in the modern game. str8bat empowers players to figure out what technique works best for them.”
Nick Hockley, Cricket Australian chief executive officer said:
“We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Str8bat that will bring this innovative and engaging bat sensor to Australian cricketers.
“Cricket Australia have been a customer of str8bat for the past three years and we have trialled the bat sensor in our high performance set up and at local clubs. We were very impressed by how str8bat has combined the use of data and technology with a user friendly interface to enhance the skills, performance and enjoyment of players at all levels.
