Call for Industry Funding Scheme Management Committee members

  • Call for people with knowledge, experience and expertise to help prioritise and guide agricultural pests and disease management investments
  • Focus on rural women to drive diversity on committees
  • A call for expressions of interest has been issued for new members for the State’s three Industry Funding Scheme Management Committees, to help guide industry responses to priority agricultural pests and diseases.

New members are required for the Cattle Industry Funding Scheme; the Grains, Seeds and Hay scheme; and the Sheep and Goat scheme.

The committees determine which pest and disease threats require action, how best to respond and what contributions are required to be raised by industry to manage the issue.

The McGowan Government is encouraging women to lodge an expression of interest, as part of its commitment to supporting diversity on boards and committees.

Landholders, agribusiness operators and other stakeholders with relevant knowledge and experience interested in preserving Western Australia’s enviable biosecurity reputation are encouraged to apply.

Expressions of interest close at 9am on March 21, 2019 and can be made online at

As noted by Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan:

“The Industry Funding Schemes are a good example of industry-driven, self-management, where industry itself decides what is important and where best to direct investments.

“This model has worked very successfully since 2010, providing a process that enables an agile, appropriate and unified response to pests and diseases.

“But it is critical that these committees resemble the industries they represent – and that means a far greater proportion of women.

“This is a great opportunity for women with a passion for protecting WA’s reputation as a reliable supplier of premium quality agricultural products to make a valuable contribution to the future viability and sustainability of their industry.”
