Call for information – Property offending – Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have made multiple arrests in relation to property offending incidents that occurred in Tennant Creek over the weekend.

Around 3am on Saturday, seven male youths allegedly unlawfully entered a commercial premises on Schmidt Street by breaking a glass door at the front of the building.

Police attended and reviewed CCTV footage resulting in the identification and arrest of three 15-year-olds and a 13-year-old. All were charged with Aggravated Burglary, Trespass and Criminal Damage and will appear in court at a later date.

Three offenders remain outstanding, and police urge anyone with information to call 131 444 and quote reference NTP2400115999.

Around 7am on Saturday, a 13-year-old male youth reportedly jumped the fence at a public swimming pool and stole keys to a vehicle parked onsite.

The offender allegedly stole the vehicle, picked up a 14-year-old female nearby, and the pair drove dangerously through Tennant Creek for a short period of time.

Members of the public provided information to police, resulting in both the 13-year-old and 14-year-old being identified and located. Both were dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act 2005.

The vehicle was recovered having sustained significant damage. Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.
