Call out to take part in parades at Bendigo TAFE Bendigo Easter Festival

Local businesses, community groups, schools and organisations are encouraged to take part in the parades during the Bendigo TAFE Bendigo Easter Festival.

Tourism and Major Events Manager Terry Karamaloudis said the Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade on Easter Sunday April 21 was a major highlight of the festival and promises to be extra special this year.

“This year’s parade will be unique with the arrival of Bendigo’s new Imperial-style dragon Dai Gum Loong who will join Sun Loong on his last parade. I encourage schools, community groups, organisations, sporting groups and local businesses not to miss out on this unique opportunity,” Mr Karamaloudis said.

“The Bendigo Advertiser Gala Parade attracts a broad range of parade entries from local sporting clubs, schools, marching bands, cultural and performance groups, charities and local businesses. It’s a wonderful opportunity to promote and showcase your organisation and have fun in the process.”

Entries are also open for parade participants to be involved in the O’Brien Electrical Bendigo Torchlight Procession which takes place on Easter Saturday at 8pm.

“We’re looking for a good mix of parade participants. This procession is very popular because it features wonderful illuminated entries from local emergency services and community groups, along with lions and dancers from the Bendigo Chinese Association.

“The parades are the real highlights of the festival and a great way to be seen by tens of thousands of people who line the routes along View Street, Pall Mall, McCrae Street and Bridge Street. Don’t miss out being part of the oldest ongoing festival in Australia.”

If you would like the opportunity to participate in the either or both of the parades, please complete the online expression of interest form at by Friday March 15, 2019.
