We are seeing right across the world increasing demand for skills to address digital security challenges.
That’s why it is so important that groups like the Australian Women’s Security Network (AWSN) are promoting diversity and skills development in what continues to be a growing area of demand not just in Tasmania and Australia, but globally as well.
AWSN is a not-for profit association and network of people aimed at increasing the number of women in the security community which is great to see.
“They have a goal of supporting, inspiring, and acting as role models for women who wish to participate in the security field,” Minister Ogilvie said.
“What I think is positive is the work that AWSN does in connecting women in the industry and those looking to enter the field with the tools, knowledge, network and platforms needed to build confidence and interest.
“It is great to be here today to talk about the success that the Tasmanian chapter has had in its first year.
“I am proud as the Minister for Science and Technology, and as a woman with a tech sector background that Tasmania is doing its part to address the skill gap that exists in cyber security and AWSN is encouraging and championing diverse participation in the sector.
“As we have seen recently cyber is a growing challenge for businesses of all sizes and we need a diverse workforce to be able to address the diversity of threats businesses face.”
There has never been a more important time to join the cyber security industry.
