Camooweal’s kids join police for healthy eating session

group photo

Senior Constable Raigan Manley’s mum, Sharon and sister, Maddison made the trek out west for a visit to Camooweal last week.

They thought they were on holiday but Raigan had other plans.

Sharon is a registered nurse and Maddison is a registered nutritionist so Raigan decided to recruit her family into an impromptu information session with the community.

Working with the Camooweal Clinic, Rainbow Gateway and the Queensland Ambulance Service, Raigan and her family provided a day devoted to all things health.

Maddison taught the local kids to make affordable, healthy and nutritious meals. They made banana pancakes and beef-stir fry and she provided recipe cards for the kids to take home.

Sharon led some lessons on snake bite first aid and the Queensland Ambulance Service even brought a resuscitation doll for CPR lessons.

Camooweal’s police sheep recruit, Teeter also kept everyone entertained but was not much help in the kitchen!

Thanks to Raigan and her family for going above and beyond for their community.
