Campaspe Shire Council has a new Mayor. Cr Daniel Mackrell was officially elected as Mayor at an Unscheduled Council Meeting last night along with Cr Jessica Mitchell in the role of Deputy Mayor.

Campaspe’s nine Councillors were sworn in on November 14 following the Victorian Electoral Commission’s announcement of the election results on November 13. The Councillors taking on the role for a four-year term are Cr Robert Amos, Cr Zoe Cook, Cr Paul Jarman, Cr Daniel Mackrell, Cr Tony Marwood, Cr Jessica Mitchell, Cr Luke Sharrock, Cr Adrian Weston, and Cr John Zobec. Councillors Cook, Mitchell and Sharrock are new to the Council.

Officially taking the chair of the meeting following his election, Mayor Mackrell thanked his fellow Councillors for their support and willingness to have him lead them as they make their way forward.

“Thank you for putting your trust in me to lead you as Campaspe’s new Mayor; I am humbled and honoured,” Cr Mackrell said.

“I am excited to work alongside such a dedicated and diverse group of Councillors – some new to Council, some already having gained years of Council experience. Together, we will strive to make decisions that reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.

“Transparency and accountability will be at the forefront of our efforts as we build on the already strong relationships with local businesses, community groups, and residents.”

The terms of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor were set for a one-year period.

The newly installed Council will set meeting dates for 2025 at its first meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, 10 December.
