Campaspe Shire Council is delighted to announce a special International Women’s Day dinner, to be held on Thursday, 6 March, at Rochester Shire Hall from 6pm to 9pm. This event promises to be an inspiring and enriching experience, celebrating the achievements and contributions of women in the Campaspe Shire community and beyond.

The dinner, priced at $39 per person ($20 for students) includes a meal, a welcome drink on arrival, and the opportunity to hear from a panel of female presenters from Campaspe Shire who will share their experiences and stories of how they have achieved success in their endeavours. Attendees will also have time to network and connect with like-minded individuals, fostering a sense of community and support.

International Women’s Day (IWD) is a global celebration held annually on 8 March. It is a day dedicated to honouring the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. IWD also serves as a call to action for accelerating gender parity and promoting equality – making this year’s theme “Accelerate Action” particularly relevant.

In 2024, Council put a call out to Campaspe women to be involved in the planning and delivery of an IWD event in 2025; the resultant committee of council staff and community members have been working together since November to plan the upcoming dinner in Rochester.

Council’s IWD dinner aims to highlight the contributions of women in various fields and inspire attendees to continue striving for gender equality while creating an inclusive world where every woman can thrive. The event will feature a panel of esteemed speakers, including: Campaspe Cohuna LLEN’s Executive Officer Jane Reid; The Holistic Care Collective’s founder and CEO, nurse practitioner Rebecca East; and Njernda Aboriginal Corporation’s Regional Aboriginal Development Officer Aunty Vicki Walker. These inspiring women will share their insights and experiences, offering valuable perspectives on the challenges and triumphs faced by women today.

Event MC will be Angela Parker, General Manager at 2QN and Edge FM Deniliquin and Echuca, and there will be live music provided by local artist Jessica Lorraine.

“We are thrilled to host this event and provide a platform for celebrating the remarkable achievements of women in our community,” Campaspe Shire Deputy Mayor Cr Jessica Mitchell said.

“International Women’s Day is a vital opportunity to reflect on the progress made towards gender equality and to reaffirm Council’s commitment to creating a more equitable society – and not only for women but for all in our community.”

The evening will also include a raffle, and all funds raised from the evening will be donated to a local charity.

Tickets for Campaspe’s International Women’s Day dinner at Rochester are available from www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1348442 until Friday, 28 February.
