The cancer cluster at Liverpool Council needs to be properly addressed to ensure no-one else gets sick, said the union representing local government workers today.
The discovery three workers on level six of the Moore Street building at Liverpool Council have developed thyroid cancer in the last three to five years has rocked staff at the council.
In response the council has relocated workers on level six to level four but this is not enough, says the United Services Union (USU).
The building must be cleared completely, says Daniel Papps, Acting General Secretary of the USU.
“We don’t know what we are dealing with here, all workers in the Moore Street building need to be rehoused immediately, I can’t put it any more plainly,” said Mr Papps.
“We are very concerned that a number of our members are sick and their welfare and that of their colleagues is the only thing that matters right now.
“We are currently holding meetings to get directions from our members as they are taking this situation very seriously,” said Mr Papps.
