Capital Grant Funding to support aged care services in Braddon

Guy Barnett, Minister for Health, Mental Health and Wellbeing

The Albanese Government is investing $135 million in grant funding to support 76 projects around the country that will deliver improved access to quality aged care services in these locations.

The majority of this investment directly supports aged care providers located outside of major cities, enabling them to build, modernise and improve their services so older people can access the aged they need when and where they need it.

This funding will also support the building of critical new staff accommodation, improved services for older people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and the delivery of more culturally appropriate aged care in First Nations communities.

For the electorate of Braddon, we are pleased to announce that Emmerton Park’s Residential Care Facility in Smithton, Onecare’s Rubicon Grove in Port Sorell and West Coast District Hospital’s Lyell House have received grants totalling $7,134,866 that will deliver improved access and quality outcomes for our older community members here in Northwest Tasmania. In particular, a major investment of $5,741 million for much needed additional aged care beds in Queenstown.
