Starting this month, captioned movies will be screened as part of the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre’s ‘Wonthaggi Wednesday’ film sessions.
The Centre aims to run a captioned film each Wednesday, based on film availability. Similar to subtitled films, captioned films include text and sound descriptions on the screen.
All films that are shown with captions will also be screened at another time without captions.
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Brett Tessari, said the introduction of captioned films is fantastic news for the community.
“It’s wonderful that the Centre is able to introduce captioned films into its regular screening program,” Cr Tessari said.
“It is so important that everyone in our community is given the opportunity to access and enjoy films at the Centre.”
Wonthaggi Wednesdays run each Wednesday throughout the year, unless there is another event booked for the Centre.
Session times for Wonthaggi Wednesdays are available on the Wonthaggi Union Community Arts Centre Facebook page at . Captioned films are highlighted in green in the program.
Upcoming captioned film sessions include Men in Black: International on Wednesday, 7 August at 10.00am and Yesterday on Wednesday, 14 August at 2.00pm.
Tickets for these sessions are available at the Centre on the day of the screenings.
