As part of Council’s Connecting Torquay Town Centre strategy, formalised car parking along Zeally Bay Road will begin from Thursday 15th October, 2020.

There will be a total of 97 car parking spaces and 4 disabled bay parking spaces along Zeally Bay Road as part of the works. In total, the project includes 150 formalised car spaces (including those on Fischer Street at Taylor Park), plus long vehicle parking (in the Fischer Street section of works).

Bike stations, pedestrian crossings and wayfinding signage are also part of the strategy, with expressions of interest currently being sought from artists for the bike stations as an arts project.

The project is part of the Torquay Town Centre Urban Design Framework, which was developed in 2017 and aims to create clear and effective connections between key natural assets, Taylor Park and foreshore, as well as the town centre through physical connections and wayfinding.

The works will be under the control of traffic management and travel times may be affected with one lane of traffic (east bound towards the Esplanade from the Zeally Bay Road/Fischer Street roundabout) closed for the duration of the works during business hours. It will remain open at night.

Council asks that people plan ahead and make necessary arrangements during the works, which are expected to take around 5-6 weeks.

Victorian Government funding from Regional Development Victoria has been received as part of this project.

If members of the public have any questions about these works, they are encouraged to through .
