Cardinia Shire welcomes Growing Suburbs Funding

Cardinia Shire Council has welcomed the announcement of $3.75 million from the Victorian Government’s 2022–23 Growing Suburbs Fund for two important community infrastructure projects.

The funding will go towards:

  • $3.35 million for Upper Beaconsfield Community, Sport and Scout Pavilion Project

  • $400,000 for PB Ronald Reserve public toilet replacement

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Jeff Springfield thanked the Victorian Government for continuing to support interface and peri-urban councils to deliver key projects in growth areas.

“Cardinia Shire continues to rank as one of the fastest growing areas in the state and this funding announcement is very welcome news. These two projects will improve the overall amenity, access and safety at shared sporting and recreational spaces in two of our rapidly growing townships,” Cr Springfield said.

“Council is committed to advocating, planning for and delivering accessible community infrastructure and services that address community need both now and into the future. These successful grants are the result of advocacy by Council on behalf of our community and we are excited to bring these projects closer to fruition.”

Upper Beaconsfield Community, Sport and Scout Pavilion Project

The proposed project will deliver a new community, sport, and scout facility, which will include change rooms, umpires’ rooms, gym, storage, social/community room, and scout facility. As a substantial capital works project with a current cost estimate of over $9 million, Council continues to advocate for additional funding support from the State and Federal Governments to implement this important community project.

PB Ronald Reserve public toilet replacement

The public toilet replacement will provide two accessible cubicles with entry cover connected to nearby services. The new amenities will be self-cleaning and are a standard asset now being delivered by Council when replacing existing amenities across the Shire as part of the Public Toilet Strategy. The upgrades will deliver safe, secure, and improved public amenities and access to the wider community. The project will be jointly funded by the Victorian Government’s 2022–23 Growing Suburbs Fund ($400,000) and Cardinia Shire Council’s Public Toilet Renewal Program ($50,000).

There will be opportunities for community consultation throughout the planning phases of both projects. Council will promote such opportunities on its website at and other communication channels.
