Carnarvon Health Campus welcomes state-of-the-art CT scanner

  • Latest technology CT scanner online at Carnarvon Health Campus
  • The brand new Siemens Healthcare machine is one of three rolled out in regional WA
  • Carnarvon residents have access to world-class diagnostic imaging technology with a new Computed Tomography (CT) scanner now fully operational at Carnarvon Health Campus.

The rollout of the state-of-the-art Siemens Healthcare CT scanner in Carnarvon, along with similar machines in Narrogin and Esperance, is part of a $2 million upgrade to systems to help put patients in regional Western Australia at the forefront of innovation in rural and remote healthcare.

The CT scanners use mobile technology to allow imaging staff and clinicians to stay by the patient’s side and talk to them during the set-up, improving patient comfort and wellbeing.

With significantly faster scan times, ultra-low dosage and consistent high-quality imaging, the scanners will assist clinicians in making more effective and accurate diagnoses.

The installation of the new CT scanner in Carnarvon follows the completion of the $19.9 million Gnullingoo Mia residential aged and palliative care facility co-located with Carnarvon Health Campus and the $26.8 million redevelopment of the hospital completed in 2016.

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

“The McGowan Government is delivering on our commitment to provide Western Australians with access to world-class healthcare, regardless of where they live.

“We know that patient comfort and satisfaction go a long way to improving the overall healthcare experience and these new CT scanners will do just that.

“Faster, with drastically reduced wait times and high-quality imaging will assist our clinicians with a much-improved diagnostic tool and smoother patient journey.

“The system is yet another enhancement to the outstanding care we are providing to the Carnarvon community.”
