A man has been charged with drink-driving after a crash in Sydney’s east resulted in significant damage to three vehicles and a small grass fire.
Officers from Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to Cranbrook Lane, Bellevue Hill, shortly before 10.30pm yesterday (Wednesday 25 December 2019), and found a Mercedes A250 hatchback had struck a brick fence, before hitting three parked cars and catching fire.
The fire spread into a nearby garden and was extinguished by local residents.
The driver, a 33-year-old man from Bellevue Hill, and his two male passengers – aged 18 and 21 – exited the vehicle uninjured.
The driver was arrested nearby and taken to Waverley Police Station after allegedly returning a positive roadside breath test.
At the station the man returned an alleged breath analysis reading of 0.130.
The man has now been charged with drive with middle-range PCA and negligent driving.
He is due to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on Friday 7 February 2020.
The Mercedes was destroyed while two of the parked cars sustained significant damage.
