Casey Stoner launches “Help Cure ME” campaign
Details his own struggles with ME/CFS
New Australian Centre to join global research effort
MotoGP Legend Casey Stoner has spoken about his own struggles with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) in launching a campaign to support more medical research into the debilitating condition in Australia.
Stoner retired from motorcycle racing in 2012, at the age of 27, having won 2 MotoGP World Championships. Last December he revealed publicly that he was suffering from ME/CFS, a condition which has affected him for the last 2 years.
Today, Stoner launched the “Help Cure ME” campaign which will raise funds towards a new medical research centre in Australia as part of a global research effort to find a cause, treatment and an eventual cure for ME/CFS.
