Detectives from the Echo Taskforce Middle Eastern Organised Crime crew have today arrested a man and seized what’s believed to be over $1M cash and approximately a kilogram of cocaine as part of an ongoing investigation in relation to a non-fatal shooting earlier this year.
A search warrant was executed at a Moonee Ponds address earlier today and a 38-year-old Moonee Ponds man was arrested.
The cash and drugs were also located at the address.
The man was subsequently interviewed and has been charged with possess large commercial quantity of drugs and possess proceeds of crime.
He faced Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tonight and was remanded in custody to re-appear at a later date.
The arrest and seizures form part of an investigation into an incident where a number of shots were fired into a house in Mickleham shortly after 3.20am on 11 July.
No one was injured during the shooting.
Later that day, detectives located a stolen orange Porsche 911 GT3 coupe at a commercial premises in Somerton during their enquiries into the shooting.
The vehicle, which is valued at approximately $400,000, had been reported stolen from a property in Brighton on 23 May.
On 30 August, three men aged 20, 26 and 30, were arrested and subsequently charged with discharging a firearm into a residence.
Yesterday police also executed two warrants in Greenvale as part of this investigation, seizing cash, cannabis, steroids and a controlled weapon.
No one was arrested during these warrants.
The investigation remains ongoing.
