Detectives from the Port Phillip Criminal Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance after several women were targeted by scammers in Melbourne’s south.
Two women have reported cash and jewellery being stolen by a group of unknown female offenders.
The victims were both deceived by the group posing as spiritual healers before their property was stolen.
The offenders instructed the victims they can heal them by packaging their cash and jewellery and praying over it at a particular location.
The offenders pray over the packages and then swap the items over while the victims are unaware.
The first incident occurred in Cheltenham on 14 February, with the second incident in St Kilda on 17 February.
A third woman told investigators she was approached by a group of women in a similar scenario in South Melbourne on 11 March but on this occasion the offenders left empty handed.
Investigators believe the scammers are targeting older women from Eastern Europe.
Police have released images of three women they believe could assist with their enquiries.
Anyone who recognises the women are encouraged to come forward.
Those with information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers in 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at
