Centralians are encouraged to cast their votes on ways to activate Alice Springs.
Activate Alice was established earlier this year, following the success of Activate Darwin and Activate Katherine. One of its first initiatives has been launching the 2023 Public Spaces Beautification Program.
Submissions for the program closed last month. Members of the public were asked to submit their ideas on ways to create, improve and activate the town’s public spaces.
Individual projects will be able to access funding of up to $20,000 to support their activations.
A total of eleven submissions were received, with four ideas shortlisted for a public vote.
These include:
· A pop-up roller rink in the Todd Mall;
· Installing an augmented reality sculpture in the Todd Mall;
· Parking up food trucks in the plaza in the Supreme Court laneway; and
· Community skate meet-up events at Speed Street Skate Park.
The public vote is now open until 14 May 2023, with the winning ideas to be announced on 19 May.
