Casuarina Beach one of Australia’s top ten beaches

Darwin City Council

Casuarina Beach in Darwin has been named one of the top 10 best beaches in Australia for 2024!

From a whopping pool of almost 12,000 contenders, this sandy paradise has risen to the top, capturing the hearts of beach lovers across the nation.

Casuarina Beach placed tenth in the list of Australia’s top beaches for 2024, and for good reason. From its expansive length and breadth of sand, crystal-clear waters and diverse wildlife, this beach offers a slice of paradise that appeals to beachgoers of all kinds.

There are so many reasons Casuarina Beach is a standout destination, including:

  • Pristine White Sands: Casuarina Beach is renowned for its miles of white sand with every visit providing a different experience thanks to the changing of the tides. The stunning coastal views are complimented by a forested backdrop of shady trees including paperbarks, mangroves, and the abundant Casuarina shaders.
  • Crystal-Clear Waters: The crystal-clear waters at Casuarina Beach are stunning to look at, however remember that box jellyfish are present almost all year round and the occasional crocodile is spotted here too, so be vigilant. June, July and August are considered safe for swimming.
  • Breathtaking Sunsets: Darwin is known for its stunning sunset displays, and Casuarina Beach delivers them in spades. Grab a picnic blanket and watch as the sun sets over the horizon, casting vibrant shades of orange and pink across the sky.
  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Casuarina Beach is a family-friendly destination, making it the perfect spot for a day of fun in the sun with your loved ones. Build sandcastles, play beach cricket or simply enjoy a picnic with the sound of waves in the background.
  • Sensational wildlife: Casuarina Coastal Reserve has kilometres of unspoilt beaches with endless views of the beautiful coastline and, depending on the time of year, you might see migratory birds or nesting turtles on the beach.
