Nominations are now open for the CBR Sport Awards 2024 to acknowledge and celebrate our exceptional local athletes, teams, coaches, volunteers, and sporting groups.
Canberra’s peak sporting organisations and local sporting clubs are invited to nominate high achievers in community sport and at the elite level who contribute to our city’s proud sporting culture.
The CBR Sport Awards allow us to recognise the excellence of our sporting community and the outstanding achievements of everyone involved.
This year’s winners will join the ranks of champions like, Nikki Ayers (Rowing) last year’s Athlete of the Year Women’s Sport as well as Athlete of the Year Para Sport; Jay Vine (Cycling, Road) Athlete of the Year Men’s Sport; and the Canberra Heat (Volleyball) Team of the Year.
The CBR Sport Award categories are:
- Athlete of the Year – women’s sport
- Athlete of the Year – men’s sport
- Athlete of the Year – para sport
- Team of the Year
- Rising Star
- Outstanding Service to Sport
- ACT Sport Hall of Fame
- ACT Sport Hall of Fame – Associate Member
- Minister for Sport and Recreation’s Award for Inclusion
- Minister for Sport and Recreation’s Award for Innovation
- Minister for Sport and Recreation’s Award for Event Excellence
Minister for Sport and Recreation, Yvette Berry announced the opening of nominations today. “Sport brings communities together providing a sense of unity. Canberra is recognised as a sporting capital and sport is a large part of our local culture,” she said,
“I encourage everyone to take the time to reflect back over what has been a huge year for sports and nominate those who have made outstanding contributions to sport in their different areas.”
“The Awards provide an opportunity for us to come together and celebrate excellence in our sporting community and I look forward to announcing the winners at the Awards ceremony later this year.”
Nominations for all awards close on 8 October 2024. The CBR Sport Awards will be held later in the year.
